Coded Messages came about as I rediscovered some old posters that printed out incorrectly due to some sort of glitch with the font I was using.
I blew them up to A1 and put them around college to see what reaction they might receive from other people. My intention then was to document a journey that ended up focusing on the garbled up poster to question the creative process and ways of digesting information.
With the journey documented I decided to split the journey into two books, a yellow one containing only photographs and a green one purely based in text.
The books correspond in the way that the text in the green book describes the process of making the image in the yellow book right down to the editing the image.
The purpose was to break down the creative process into its constituent parts to see what could be gained or lost by revealing everything.
The destination became less of an issue as ultimately with the poster being unintelligable the feelings and information generated during the journey became the main focus.
